This is an utterly alluring, nuanced, well-constructed jRPG that exudes charm. It is a great adventure, with its own idiosyncrasies, and hearkens back to a time when jRPGs were simple, yet complex; isolated, though expansive; when their story and gameplay compelled you to delve deeper into their lore. I keep returning to the word ‘charming’, merely because I haven’t had this much fun in a game in quite some time. Not only is there obvious respect for its precedents, but the developer has added their own twists and evolutions to create an absolutely unique, enjoyable experience.
